The Pantograph

So, traditionally, mechanical drawing reproduction was aided by means of a Pantograph. This was a construction of connected arms and working on the principle of levers would reproduce an original drawing either to scale or enlarged. It was later developed and re-engineered to work on machine tools to  actually cut metal reproductions of a traced model long before the development of Computer Aided Machining
